BushBaby Safaris

BushBaby Safaris is a family run company, which has been registered since 1999, offering Southern African tours and safaris. All our guides are fully registered and qualified to conduct South African tours and safaris and take great pleasure in showing off our very diverse array of fauna and flora, along with the many other attractions on offer on our South Africa safaris and tours. We offer tours and safaris throughout Southern Africa. All the South African safaris and tours shown on this site are private tours - in other words it will be your South African tour and safari. As such, feel free to ask for any changes you want. You can make it longer or shorter, add or remove things and change anything you like. As long as we feel that we can still do the tour, we will be happy to make the changes and adjust the price accordingly, to ensure your South Africa safari or tour will be the best trip you have ever done. Our South African tours and safaris are advertised as guided tours, which will include a qualified guide and private vehicle. Should you prefer to self drive, please let us know and we will adapt any of our South African tours and safaris, to make it a self drive. The meals on our South African tours and safaris are done in various different ways. Some are done by leading restaurants, while others are prepared by the lodge staff or even our highly trained guides. Meals are done to try and reflect the area’s culinary delights and are never pre-packed or served in the vehicle. Food is not only a specialty of our South African tours and safaris, but our delight. We are masters at ensuring that our country's culinary delights are an integral part of the tour, without it being too overpowering. Food and beverage often makes up part of our scheduled South African tours and safaris, as is the case with our Cape Town tour, which includes visits to our country's famous wine lands as an example. We have done Southern Africa tours and safaris where the main focus was on food and beverage, so although you will not find it on our normal list of South African tours and safaris, why not enquire about it. Types of accommodation vary depending on our South African tours and safaris, but our normal type of lodging would make use of very good B&B's, small lodges or when possible we like to make use of accommodation in national parks. However, wherever your South African tour or safaris takes us, you can rest assured that our clients are always very comfortable - after all that's our business. We can modify any of our South African tours and safaris to make them fit your budget, from huts to 5 star lodges with all the trimmings. Once again our focus is on providing tailor made South African tours and safaris, so please feel free to contact us and let us create a South African tour or safari to suit your requirements. Otherwise why not take a look at our popular South African tours and safaris (listed on the tours and safaris page) and let us know if you would like any changes. Before arrival all our guests are sent a form to be completed, which will outline any likes and dislikes, as well as important information like medical conditions. We believe this attention to personal detail to be one of the major differences between ourselves and our competitors.

My husband and I went on a 21 day safari with Pierre at Bush Baby Safaris in 2007 and have wanted to go back ever since. In fact my parents just went on a almost month long safari with him this year. We toured South Africa from Kruger to Cape Town. It was an excellent combination of private and national game parks. We saw all the animals we wanted to see and some that we did not even know we wanted to see. In between the animal viewing we also had fantastic opportunities to have cultural experiences with local people that were definately not staged. It was my first time to Africa and I was a bit wary at first but from the moment we were picked up from the airport I felt safe and as if we were with friends every place we went. Pierre is an excellent guide and does a excellent job customizing the tour to make it exactly what you want to get out of your vacation. I highly recommend Bush Baby Safaris and we are planning on going on a tour with Pierre again when are kids are a bit older and can appreciate the beauty of Africa.
Two trips, two great experiences with Bushbaby!

We have been on safari with Bushbaby twice, once in 2007 and again in 2012. The 2007 trip took us to Kuger National Park and the Timbuvati in South Africa. One of the first things that will strike you, before you even leave home, is the warmth and attentiveness of Bushbaby. We'd originally requested a Kruger visit, but Pierre (the owner) called us in the USA and asked if we'd consider a few days in a private concession adjacent to Kruger because of the completely different type of experience it would offer (on road vs. off road; back in camp by sunset vs. night drives, national park vs. luxury/more traditional experience). Pierre's passion for wildlife and his interest in giving us the best experiences possible, had us agreeing and (impressed) in no time. The friendliness, exceptional service and attention to detail, and of course the passion for Africa and its people and wildlife was a consitent theme throughout our safari. The safari itself exceeded all expectations! Bushbaby's choice of accommodation was topnotch and the chef wasn't bad either--in the National Park Bushbaby did most of the cooking--there was lots of tasty fare and even some homemade warthog sausage. Of course the highlight was the wildlife. Yup, we saw the Big Five--what a trill! Bushbaby was immensley informative about everything from tracking, animal habitat, behaviour, and general information. They entertained and educated us through great stories about their safari experience. A big part of the fun and adventure of safari is combing the landscape looking for the swish of a tail in the trees or what looks like a large grey boulder in the distance (until it moves)! Every day holds infinite possibility. We can't say enough good things about Bushbaby. The trip was so amazing that we got the bug, "Mal D' Africa" which manifests as a strange pull to this amazing place. There is no cure, all you can do is treat the symptoms by returning to Africa again and again. We did just that, by returning to Africa with Bushbaby in 2012. This time we visited Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia. What can we say, Bushbaby was as amazing as ever. Pierre was a great guide and travel companion. He has a lifetime of knowledge which he happily shares. He also has an "eagle eye" and spotted some great critters for us! Actually, in some of the countries we visited, it's mandatory that local guides take you into the national parks. On many occassions it became evident that we'd have missed A LOT if it weren't for Pierre's eagle eye! Most notable were a pride of lions in long grass and a cheetah in the fading light of dusk--Our first cheetah, you can imagine how excited we were! We also spent a few days on a houseboat and Pierre took us tigerfishing! Great fun! The whole trip was great fun! The symptoms of Mal D'Africa have abated slightly, but they'll return in full force so we are saving for another adventure with Bushbaby. We highly, highly recommend Bushbaby Safari. You will have the trip of a lifetime and maybe even catch the bug!

My family and some friends met up with Pierre from Bushbaby Safaris in June 2012 at the Victoria Falls for the most amazing holiday of a lifetime! We had an adventure filled few days at the Victoria Falls where we went on an elephant back safari where we got up close and personal with the wildlife as they saw us as elephants and not humans. We did a tour of The Falls which is a once in a lifetime experience and then flew over the falls in a helicopter which gave it a whole new dimension. Dinner at the Boma and all the entertainment that went with it was a night I will remember for the rest of my life and all that was just the first day. Talk about sensory overload - wonderful!! We travelled with Bushbaby Safaris down the Western side of Zimbabwe and stayed at a tree lodge for a few days where we went on open vehicles and saw an abundance of wildlife. The entire 10 days were fill with amazing sites and adventures staying at unique lodges with wonderful meals and first class service. We felt totally safe at all times under the care of Pierre who was an encyclopaedia of knowledge on all things nature. He looked after our every whim and went way beyond "the call of duty" to make things as memorable as possible. We would highly recommend this company to any of our friends and are saving like crazy so we can go on another unforgettable Safari with Bushbaby Safaris.
