Most of our group had never been to South Africa before and did not know what to expect, Les and Schalk provided a level of warmth, and professionalism that made our trip one of the most enjoyable foreign experiences we have ever had! We all loved the tours we went on and the Game Reserve did not disappoint! While at the Fairy Glen Game Reserve, we were provided with a wonderful meal and the staff was most welcoming. We were able to see a plethora of animals and were able to be very close to the lions and get some wonderful photos! Cape Town was so beautiful and Les and Schalk were very informative and provided us with helpful logistical and historical information that was very much appreciated. They set us up in accommodation that provided amazing views of Table Mountain and and our suites had balconies that faced the Atlantic! Everyone wants to go back to visit South Africa again sometime in the future, and that has a lot to do with Les & Schalk's tireless effort in making sure that we all had a wonderful time in their country!

We have been to South Africa four times since 2003 and each time we have toured with Les and Schalk of Lescha Tours. The first time we were recommended to them by a friend – serendipity!
We so enjoyed the week in Cape Town and along the Garden Route, with visits to Table Mountain, the winelands, cheetah sanctuary, Oudtshoorn and Kango caves, small safari park, elephant park, George and others that we decided to return for more.
Indeed we did, and took friends along with us – with longer trips, all ‘tailor-made’ by Les and Schalk. In each of the subsequent visits – in 2004, 2007, and 2010 (we must be due another soon) – we had different itineraries and have covered different parts of the magnificent country that is South Africa. We have done and seen so much it is difficult to describe in a couple of paragraphs. Apart from the Garden Route, we have visited Cape Point, the West Coast (including visit to a primary school), the Karoo, Kimberley, Drakensburg, Durban, Johannesburg and surrounds, Blood River, Port Elizabeth and many other places.
In the trips there were fascinating visits to animal parks and gardens of all sorts, wineries, whale watching, museums – anything you want.
Les and Schalk will not only arrange the venues for you, but also book accommodation to suit your pocket. If you can afford it, try a two-night visit to Sanbona Safari Park for the luxury experience of a lifetime.
Les and Schalk are great guys for whom nothing is too much trouble. They will make your personalised tour one to remember. They are attentive without being intrusive and will let you safely ‘do your own thing’ for a while if that is what you want – and they have a wonderful sense of fun.
Clearly we recommend Lescha Tours without reservation. If you would like to contact us directly you can do so on m.pamplin@btinternet.com We live in Norfolk, England and would be happy to have a chat, too.

I visited South Africa - the Western Cape specifically in January of 2012 with my wife and daughters (aged 10 and 8). We were touring around with various stops and a variety of excursions , focussing on fine dining and wineries. We were based at the Arabella Sheraton for a part of the holiday when we were introduced to Les and Schalk. The hotel was quite appalling with some of the worst service I have ever encountered. Thankfully the guys took us out for 3 days and turned a disaster into a highlight. We had pre booked lunches and a couple of winery trips but Les and Schalk managed to add a couple more ad hoc visits on for us. Nothing was too much trouble, and they managed to skilfully combine a friendly, informative and welcoming drive in their van with allowing us privacy as a family to do our own thing. The highlight however was NY Eve. We were extremely concerned as the hotel was living up to its usual level of incompetence viz. organising anything for New Year . Les and Schalk took over and made it into one of the more memorable experiences on our trip. They found a fantastic local restaurant by the waterfront where we had a superb meal and wines to match. They then picked us all up and took us to their home town of Kleinmond where they had stored our pre bought champagne in a cooler and proceeded to set up camp with snacks for the kids (and us !) in a wonderful spot to watch the fireworks and see the New Year in. We felt included as part of the local scene and truly privileged to have been there. I am pleased to say we have kept in touch and look forward to asking the guys for their assistance on our next visit ! I would urge anyone in the area to do the same. Howard Thomas

Les and Schalk, of Lesha Country Tours, are first-rate tour guides. They are true gentleman, very experienced and full of information. They have been involved in the South African tourism industry , in various capacities, for quite some time, and this is evident as they guide their guests around! I booked their services while a guest at the Arabella Resort over Christmas 2010.
They incorporated ideas I had for exploring the countryside with their own excellent suggestions, and came up with an itinerary that was rich in cultural history , strong on stunning views and hit some absolute "must see" tourist points of interest. For example, we went to a candle-making factory (and I returned back to the US with the most amazing -and quite packable- small exquisite candles for gifts!), we were able to have a wonderful picnic on the beach of the Indian Ocean (and they included me in the grocery shopping for the lunch items, a real treat to grocery shop in a different country especially when accompanied by those who know their way around), we toured wineries and vineyards, and they even arranged for a private tour at one of the vineyards of the huge estate house (which had been featured in architectural magazines).
What I remember most, as a single traveller, was that we toured on Christmas Eve, and when they returned me for drop-off to the Arabella Resort, they presented me with the loveliest small keepsake box tied up in ribbons, with the inside full of feathers and rocks and shells from the places we had visited as a special Christmas Eve gift--when you are away from family on such a holiday, such kindness is much appreciated and not long forgot. But that is indicative of how these two gentleman approach their "guests", not as customers or clients, but truly as "guests".
As I departed and left for 10 days in Capetown, they insisted on booking me at a very special restaurant in that big city, stating "You must eat there!" and "It's not to be missed!", and promising that they would get me the best table with a wonderful ocean view (up on a cliff) and at sunset. When I showed up at the appointed time, I was not disappointed --it may be one of the more memorable restaurant settings and meals of my life! Their influence even extends to the big city, after your touring with them has ended!
I suggest you give every consideration to booking with these fine tour guides, as they will not disappoint but will delight and amaze you.

We two 60 something ladies, one from the US and one from Australia, hired the services of Lescha tours for a day while staying at the Arabella resort near Cape Town.
Les and Schalk devised a very tailored day tour for us, to meet our specific interests, and we had a ball. We saw South Africa through their expert local eyes, with witty and knowleedgable commentary along the way, which was superb.

We visited wineries, specialist craft shops that we chose, had lunch in a superb restaurant (recommended by them, with input from us), visited beautiful gardens ( and enjoyed their terrific plant knowledge), viewed local art, and spotted whales from the beach.
It was an action packed day that we simply couldn't have had as tourists on our own.
Les and Schalk were terrific guides and obviously love their country and all it has to offer us as visitors.
What a great day! thanks guys.

I took a chance and booked a tour with Les and Schalk while I was on a business conference at the Arabella Hotel. I had 2 spare days to explore the area and looked up the number in the phone book. I was a single female traveller and wanted to see some of the country in a safe and secure way. I just did not want to stay in the hotel, it would have been such a waste. Im so glad I took up my courage and did this and so glad I picked Lescha. These 2 guys were so welcoming and helpful, kind and great fun. We laughed all the time, they took me off in a minibus to Cape Agulhas and on the way we stopped wherever and whenever I felt the whim. It was GREAT. We visited great little tea rooms and craft places on the way. We stopped at a supermarket and purchased lunch which we had on the beach, it was such fun. These guys went out of the way to give me an awesome time. They showed me sights that Id never had found on my own, the birds, the beautiful views, and even the poor areas. I wanted to see the way the people lived in the shanty towns, and these guys took me, safely and it was such an eye opener. What was so great about this was that I could go where I wanted and I could stop where I wanted, not like a tour where you are restricted. I just loved it and I am so glad I found these great knowledgable and friendly guys.

I cannot recommend these two men highly enough. My 85 year old mother and I did a tour with them in May of 2012.As I live in Australia and my mother is in South Africa, the tour was organised by e mail and one phone call that they made to me. They really went out of their way to make sure that we saw all we wanted to and much more. After talking to my mom they realised that she has had a life long dream of driving up the Swartberg pass. They quietly included this as a surprise for her and also organised a fantastic picnic at the top. Without them we would not have seen as much as we did and would have missed out on the out of the way places in the little towns that we drove through. They have a wealth of information on the animals and birds we saw and the history of the towns and people in the areas we went past. I love taking photos and they were always happy to stop and let me do that. We felt safe in their company, and they were attentive without being intrusive.

We would not come to South Africa again if Les and Schalk of Leschatours were not personally available to guide us. We knew South Africa well but these guys made everything we hoped for come to life with their passion for the countryside, nature and the people we encountered through them. Nothing was too much for them and we got to see and experience even more than we asked for although we are pretty demanding people.
