Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill

Overall rating:

Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill are both very private bush homes. They are located on their own private game reserve in the magnificent, malaria-free Waterberg region of the Limpopo province in South Africa. Our aim is to provide our guests with a unique safari experience, offering a wide range of activities to keep everyone entertained, from the youngest to the oldest, the fittest to those most in need of a rest.

You can enjoy fabulous game viewing in a variety of ways:

Guided game walks, from a gentle stroll down the plains to a more strenuous hike over rugged hills, which enable you to gain a detailed knowledge of African fauna and flora. Game drives in open 4 wheel drive Land-cruisers, which allow you to cover more ground and experience wildlife in a traditional but less energetic way.

We have 70 horses so can offer some of the most exciting game viewing on horseback in Africa, whatever your age or riding ability.
We are very flexible. Your guide will tailor-make each day specifically to suit you and your family - so wake up when you want and enjoy a time of pure relaxation or action packed excitement.

I traveled to Ant's Hill with my mum for 5 days of pure bliss!

I am a very keen rider and have ridden a lot in Africa but my mum hadn't been in the saddle for over 10 years! However, after just 1 day she was absolutely loving it. The horses are so well-behaved that she soon built up her confidence and as the reserve has no dangerous game, the environment was perfect. Since the horses life out among the game, you can get incredibly close to the wildlife from the saddle - much closer than in a vehicle! They also have 10 rhino on the property which is a fabulous addition and again very exciting to see from horseback.

The lodge itself is just stunning. We stayed in the World's View cottage which has its own pool and private lounge/balcony area with sensational views! The atmosphere is so peaceful and a perfect spot to relax between the exciting rides.

The food was to die for and no ask was too much for the wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly staff!

Our holiday was handled by African Horse Safaris - www.africanhorsesafaris.com - this was the first time I have traveled with them. I decided to try them for their future 5% loyalty discount and was really impressed with the service - will certainly book with them again. They organised the transfer which was an extremely easy 3.5 hour drive on tarmac from J'burg. If we went again we may even consider renting our own car, the journey was that easy.

Would recommend to a friend and would absolutely love to return.
